Richie Furay — In The Country
Buffalo Springfield/Poco founder and Broomfield minister Richie Furay returns with his ninth solo effort. This is Furay’s first album since 2015’s Hand in Hand. A documentary on Furay featuring narration by Cameron Crowe is also in the works.
Peter Gabriel — Live Blood
This 2012 release featuring a 2011 show from the Hammersmith Apollo in London is new to vinyl. Over three albums, Gabriel explores his lengthy catalog with the help of a guitar-free 46-piece orchestra that revises many of the original arrangements.
Jerry Garcia Acoustic Band — Ragged But Right
This classic Jerry Garcia acoustic double-album is seeing its first vinyl release. Recorded during his Broadway run in 1987, Ragged but Right is a perfect add-on to Almost Acoustic, his other live album with this backing group. It features twelve tracks not included on that other release, most notably “Rosalee McFall,” “Goodnight Irene,” “Turtle Dove” and “Drifting Too Far from the Shore.”
Steve Hackett — The Tokyo Tapes
Talk about prog-rock heaven. This 1997 release is receiving its first vinyl release in a three-record set that adds multiple tracks not included on the original. Hackett’s band includes John Wetton, Chester Thompson and the recently departed Ian McDonald. Together they cover classics from the Genesis, King Crimson and Asia catalogs.
Freddie Hubbard — Live At Studio 104 Maison de la Radio, (ORTF), Paris 1973
My favorite jazz by Freddie Hubbard was produced during his tenure at CTI Records in the early seventies. This previously unreleased double-album finds his quartet working through four lengthy improvisational pieces (one per album side), including the classic “Sky Dive.”
Kinks — Waterloo Sunset EP
This 55th anniversary edition of the classic single features six tracks, artwork from the French release and yellow vinyl.
My Morning Jacket — Live From RCA Studio A (Jim James Acoustic)
This RSD exclusive captures Jim James acoustic at RCA Studios in Nashville, performing seven songs from My Morning Jacket’s excellent 2021 self-titled album.
Pearl Jam — Live on Two Legs
Finally back on vinyl, this double-album features peak Pearl Jam from their 1998 tour in support of Yield. The highlight is the final track, a cover of Neil Young’s “Fucking Up.”
Prince — The Gold Experience
This 1995 album came out when Prince had abandoned his moniker and was being called either The Glyph or The Artist (Formerly Known as Prince). The original edition was only available on vinyl in a promo edition that sells for $400, so this release finally brings The Gold Experience to vinyl lovers at a reasonable price and should move fast.
Various Artists — The Royal Tenenbaums
New to vinyl, this two-album soundtrack to Wes Anderson’s second film features a combination of great tracks from Nick Drake, Bob Dylan, The Clash and others alongside the score by Devo founder Mark Mothersbaugh.
Sweet Relief — A Benefit for Victoria Williams
Nearly thirty years after its original release, this stellar two-album tribute to singer-songwriter Victoria Williams gets its first domestic vinyl edition. Contributing artists include Lucinda Williams, Pearl Jam, The Jayhawks, The Waterboys, Lou Reed, Soul Asylum and many others.
Barry White — No Limit On Love
Soul godfather Barry White’s fifth studio effort hasn’t been repressed since its 1974 release. This hand-numbered, gold-colored edition features both instrumental and vocal tracks, all featuring White’s unique R&B touch.
Wilco — Cruel Country
Jeff Tweedy and company are releasing their new double-album in digital-only format on May 27 in conjunction with their Solid Sound Festival in Massachusetts. No release date yet for a vinyl edition, but a special CD edition will drop as part of RSD Round Two.
World Party — Seaview Records Presents: World Party Curated by RSD
This exclusive selection of World Party classics and rare live tracks was curated by Paul Epstein, the longtime owner of Denver’s Twist and Shout. The live tracks include a “Ship of Fools” recorded at the Boulder Theater in 1996.
